Keith - what Ian said is true. I really had a hard time with my Ambo for 18
months. It just would not run on both cylinders most of the time. I did
lots of stuff to try to fix it but nothing worked until this Summer I found
out by chance that the brand new battery that was installed by the dealer
had a dead cell in it. The battery was replaced and it has run great since.
So, this was all a combination of my own motorcycle ignorance and a dealer
that was not as helpful as I would have liked. But Ian, Andy, Peter,
Charlie, (there's a guy out in Arizona - I'm blocking on his name) anyway a
whole bunch of guys on this list listened to me, supported me and slapped me
into staying with the Ambo. And, I'm glad they did. This is one cool bike.
I am a 48 year old guy and I need as much coolness in my life as I can get.
I like the bike a lot, with minimal tinkering (which I welcome) it stays
reliable. Lots of people stop me and ask about the bike; it promotes such
good will - it is truely a real Ambassador of Good Will. It is really a
neat, old bike that still works very well. A lot of biker guys say that the
Guzzi is as reliable as a BMW. Anyway, I am not sure what your story is
with your bike (I know you have a spring problem), i.e. why it is that you
are thinking of getting rid of it. Is it breaking your heart?? I've been
there. Someone on this list pronounced that I have the 'Guzzi Purple Heart'
for all my suffering! If you want to chew the fat on this problem give me
your phone number and I'll give you a call.
At least don't sell it until we talk, OK? Bob Hawkes

Keith,

I hope you don't sell the bike. Bob Hawkes was ready to sell his bike too
but ask him now what he thinks of the thing now that it is running well.

Hang in there. You will not regret it....Ian

 Hey Ian,

I missed a bunch of rides/rallies the past 2 years! Don't need the
tranny fixed, it already is. Just the return spring needs to be
installed correctly - this can be done externally through the back
plate. If it doesn't work and the tranny has to come back out, I may
either bring it back to the Guzzi shop and tell them to fix it right
this time or just sell it as is. Hopefully it won't come down to that
though.

Regards,

Keith Ruff
