Jeff,
Welcome to the list. I have just finished restoring my Eldo, and have
a few words of advice about the wiring.
The original wiring has all the current for the lights, signals, and
horns going through the handlebar "snuffbox" switches. These switches
aren't the best switches around, and tend to malfunction, partly because
of the heavy currents which are switched through them. For this reason,
I redesigned the electrical system so that the handlebar switches turn
on standard automotive relays, which switch the heavy current loads. I
put all relays and fuses on a board mounted behind the left sidecover,
which meant that I had to mount the (lawn tractor) battery
longitudinally instead of transversely (which is standard). The system
works very well, but I think it probably used about twice as many wires
as the standard harness, and took quite a bit of time to wire up. I'm
glad I did it though, as I think the whole system is now more
electrically efficient (with much lower ohmic losses) and easy to
service (I hated taking apart the headlamp to replace a fuse).
At any rate, I plan to document my design, and once I've done that,
could supply the wiring diagram and harness connectorization if you are
interested.

general consensus on doing a custom harness vs buying a factor
replacement?

Last one (at least for now), it seems to be leaking a good amount of
oil from around the clutch pushrod area. Is this a common problem for
these
bikes? any recommended fix?
