so far as I can tell, and I have examined 3 loopframes, there is no number
stamped on the frame, unless it's under the plate.

My suggestion is to do whatever it takes to make the plate match up as close
as it can and then glue it to the frame. you could also glue the old beads
in place to look riveted.

If you ever plan on re coating the frame, I suggest you don't use JB weld or
epoxy. Likewise silicone glues are too weak.

I would suggest a trim adhesive of some sort like is used for glued on auto
trim. that will come off with heat and a putty knife.

In the quest to get the frame ready for sandblasting
and powdercoating, I removed the VIN plate from the
headstock. it almost came off in 1 piece :(. This is
on a 1970 Amabassador and as far as I can tell the VIN
is not stamped anywhere on the frame. Any thoughts
as to how I unscrewify this situation?

Oh, if I can patch the VIN plate back together, is there
a source for the strange bradlike rivets that hold it on?

thanks,

jeff
