Sorry, Greg. The port opening does NOT shrink with heat, but rather it
expands. Hard to imagine, but if you make a steel Hula Hoop and heat it, it
will get bigger, not smaller. That's how they used to put iron perimeters on
old wooden wagon wheels. Build the wooden wheel, build a flat stock iron
ring just a little smaller than the wheel, build a ring fire to heat the iron
ring to expansion, drop it on the wooden wheel and pour water so it shrinks
and does not set the wood on fire. The whole thing compresses to hold the
wheel together. And the ring is more durable against the ground surface.

Actually, the aluminum head port SHOULD expand faster and further than the
steel header nut. So, you should be able to get it tight when hot and it
will actually become tighter as it cools.
