I agree. Used to sell them back east until I got too many people telling
me they went down in the rain. That was about ten years back.

I don't flame anyone and appreciate all inputs (even if others
don't). I
used to run Cheng Shin's back in the '70's on it. I worked for the
original
importer of them and then later sold them in my shop. I'm sure they
have
changed a lot since. Then, they lasted a really long time but I
found the
grip lacking and in wet weather they were downright scary... Are
they any
better now?

At the risk of getting flamed.....I run the Cheng Shin replica of
the
Dunlop
K70. It was popular in the 70's when I first started riding
Guzzi's and
comes in the 4.00X18 size. JC Whitney sells them for around $45
apiece.
They
are 6-ply and very tough. I ride my Ambo everywhere, and have
never had a
problem. I live in Las Vegas, and they hold up to the desert heat
very
well.
I always liked them because they work well in the dirt, like in
graded
roads. Actually, they were used for flat track racing in the 70's.
Besides
all that, I like the period look.
