I've owned two black 731/2 Eldos titled as 74's (one
civilian and one police model) with Amal carbs (Walt
Lund of Seattle sleeved the carbs -excellent work-
then I rebuilt the carbs myself) and manual brakes
Both came to me with Continental tires. I sold the
civilian model and still have the police model. I
never bought any tires for either bike. I notice a bit
of sidewall cracking on the current set, but the tread
is still really good. I don't know how long they were
on the bike before I got it, but I've had the bike for
five years. I probably put about 4000 miles on the
bike. (My odometer doesn't work - the speedo does.) I
would say that Continental makes a pretty good tire. I
imagine that they are not innexpensive. Dunlops (also
not cheap) on the Harleys seem to wear a bit faster.
Especially the skinny front tire on the Springer.
