Dennis,
What you say makes sense to me but can you by those Time/serts as separate items or do you usually have to buy the whole kit? I will explore Guzziology for those drain plug torque settings. Thanks, Bob

Bob,
I would suggest installing a Timesert, Helicoil, or equiv., keeping the plug hole thread size the same as stock. Use grease on your tap to keep chips out of the trans. I would not use locktite of any kind in threads of a drain hole, only the plug and a fresh crush washer, torqued to the correct ft/lbs. Just my opinion.

I recently changed the tranny oil on my Ambo. When replacing tranny drain plug screw it just kept turning. It seems it has been stripped for a time. I did notice that not much oil came out of the tranny when I drained it, only about half a quart but it was pretty clean. How can I fix this stripped drain screw problem? Should I put in a time sert/thread repair insert? Or should I retap the drain hole to a larger ize and put in an oversized drain plug? Also, do you use Blue Locktite on these plugs?
Thanks. Bob Hawkes
