 John,
stay cool.
That's me. Like a cucumber, I am.

The carrier bearing is always good for huge
surprises. When I disassembled my MilleGT the u-joint
came out quite easy. When I inspected the surface of the
inner ring by finger it appeared odd. When I had it out
the inner ring was broken four-fold. Was riding this way, but
no idea how long. Luckily I found it before somthing happend.

It's always satisfying to find some potential disaster in your own
garage before it becomes one on the road. I had once returned home after
a 500 mi. trip on my Laverda to have the brake cable break on the final
stop into the garage.
Oh...and carrier bearing came out just fine; a little more heat gun
treatment and a bit of spirited pounding with a drift and it popped
right out. Seems to be none the worse for the wear, either.
