When I got my Eldo (the owners father had bought the bike new in '72
and had been in the family since), the rubber airbox connecting boot was
shot. I bought a set of K&N filter units from Moto International to
replace the OE airbox. I had to remove the carb stacks to get the K&Ns
to fit and I rode the bike for several years this way.

Then there was a thread on the Guzzi list about how the carb stacks are
needed for better performance but some 'machining' was required to get
them to fit with the K&Ns. So I bought an extra set of stacks and
discovered that they were longer than the set that I had (44 mm long).
Harper's told me that all Ambo/Eldo carb stacks were the same and they
didn't know of any that were shorter. But mine looked just like the OEM
units, same ridges, etc. Never did find out what model Guzzi they were
made for.

I wonder if your carb stacks are the same as mine.

 Zer,
I was talking to Tom about this as he sent pics of his boot to me and I do
see that it smacks right up tight to the airbox. Either my airbox is too
far back or my engine too far forward!! Seriously, I wonder if the inakes
on the ends of the carbs are to short. I got the bike this way from the
Dealer and the previous boot that was on there was also duct taped, a real
mess so I bought a new boot but it was still not right. I will continue to
investigate. Thanks, Bob
