You gotsta take the fork tubes down outta da trees. No pretty way around
it. It's not all that bad really. Usually the only hard part is getting
the fork tubes loose from the taper at the top. Then there was my bike.
The forks stuck through the taper and weren't tight in it. Handled a
might on the 'loose' side.<br><br>

I need to repaint my upper fork covers. Being that I've never
messed with the front end of the bike, I need to know something. To
remove them, do I have to remove the forks from the triple trees or will
the covers come off without doing that? What would be the easiest
way to get them off...remove the whole front end, or slide the fork tubes
out with the tree still on the bike? This is a '74 disc
model, which I understand is more related to a T than a drum Eldo or Ambo
if it makes any difference. Any input is appreciated.<br>
