If you didn't wipe it dry immediately, it would wash right off afterwards
with soapy water. I use it for detailing. I go to the local 99-cent, or
Dollar store, and look for the generic stuff. I recently got a bunch of it
branded for Bissell, but for $.99 a can. You just use it like furniture
polish, and it makes the paint so slick the bugs bounce off.
Actually, you could do the same with something like WD40. It would hold the
dirt and bugs in suspension, preventing them from sticking to the paint, and
then would wash off with soap and water. We used to give our missles a final
wipedown with WD40, or other equivalents as a surface protectant when I was
in the Navy, to prevent corrosion on the surface during shipping.
