David,
Try a brand new battery before you do anything else. Last year I had
starboard side spark when I checked the plug outside the bike but when I
dropped it back in it would not fire after awhile. I tried lots of things.
The last thing I did was buy a brand new battery as I finally found out that
the year old battery I had in the bike had a dead cell. I would definitely
find out the condition of your battery before all else. Bob Hawkes

Thanks for the great responses, I tried to answer each question in this
one
 post.

I have no firing at either cylinder, I have checked/set the valve
clearances, and on my cold compression test, I am only getting about 85 to
90 psi with the throttle wide open. I assume this is low, but if I have
the
timing off dramatically, could this cause the valves to be open a bit on
compression stroke? I did speak with a guy on the phone that told me that
it
is common to have the timing marks misaligned on the pulley of the
loopframes, something about them being able to be on but on backwards??? I
have also done the mechanical carb sync that Gary referenced in an earlier
posting. Again, spark is there, fuel is there, but no bang!

Thanks again for the help,
David
