I owned a black 74 eldo (civi 4ls amal painted
fenders)that spewed gear lube from the overflow tube
after any ride of 5 miles or so. It would always glop
some out no matter how much lube was in the
transmission - high, low or just right. I had to carry
90 wt. gear lube with me to top it off when necessary.
I sold that bike and later got another, this time a 74
eldo (lapd 4ls amal chrome fenders) and have never had
this problem with this bike. Has anyone seen this
problem? Does anyone know what would cause this odd
expulsion of gear lube? The bike shifted fine and ran
great. My best fix was to loop several feet of
neoprene tubing in a coil long enough to retain the
blown out (expelled) fluid and thusly allow it to
drain back when parked. Sort of like a kid's crazy
straw.
