I gotta say it. Going cheap here doesn't pay. I made the mistake. Now I
am getting a nickasil set. Peeling chrome is bad. But putting new rings
in just peels the chrome up like cake frosting. And while you are at it,
pull the crank and clean the oil journals. The chrome flakes are
everywhere.

I have been posting about my "new" eldo, and how it won't start. After
pulling the head, I noticed that the previous owner must have replaced
the
piston, but the cylinder is very worn, and rings were broken, base
gasket
torn, hence my compression problem I assume. (70psi, with throttle wide
open)

What are my options here? Since I am doing this, I will do both sides at
once, but being new I have no clue as to where to begin. I did speak
with
one of the Guzzi suppliers today who mentioned purchasing cylinders that
had
been re-chromed. He had a set with pistons. What about Nikasil (sp?)?
What
about boring and lining?

Thanks for your opinion.
David
