Hi Todd,
I prefer magnetic. Never liked having to fish straps around frame tubes
and stuff. Probably a lot depends on how big of a tankbag though. The
"Sharp" brand bag I use only has one compartment and even overly filled,
stays put. But one of the huge "double-decker" expandible bags may
require straps to stay safely in place. Cheers,
