But it is more fun to go south. 'sides, I never get along with the
border folks.

"Do you have any fire arms, explosives or other weapons?"
"No. Was I supposed to bring some?"
"Pull into slot #3"

1200 miles? WTF?

Just drive up into Canada (about 150 mile from your front door) buy at
the duty-free shop and come back.

I hear you. Thanks to Wa States extreme taxation of "sins" a good
bottle of scotch sets you back half a C-note. Dagnabbit. Best value I
found was hitting up the Cosco in california. So maybe I'll make a 1200

mile liquor run this summer :)

As an inexpensive alternative, try Tulamore Dew. It's an Irish Whisky.
Not too bad. Great to fill a flaskful for that end of the day campfire
sipping and neighbor aquainting session.

Project notes:
Looks like I may have scrounged a set of cylinders that have been
lined. We'll see. I'm taking the crank conrods pistons etc to the sop
for measurement and evaluation. I want to make sure I'm not putting poo

parts back into the bike. It'd be nice to go 850 on the ambo. But I'm
not married to it. I'd be just as happy to stuff a 750 top back on it.

The hammerite paint on the frame will take at least a week to cure with

the current temps, so I'm in the phone call and wait stage.

Zerhack and others,
I went to my local liquor store yesterday to get some scotch.
Zerhack recommended Glenmorangie Sherrywood, but its price was $56.90,
as was Glenmorangie Portwood, which sounded interesting. I thought this

was a bit pricey, so I got a bottle of Bowmore, my personal favourite
for $37, which incidentally is the price for Balvenie sherrywood. I've
tried regular Glenmorangie, which I liked, and I imagine that the
Sherrywood and Portwood types are very good as well. I know you also
recommended Lagavulin, but another scotch that will put hair on your
chest is Talisker.
At any rate, this Bowmore is
rrreallly,
rrreallly,
...gooood...(HIC)..
How 'bout them loopframes!!!
