The chaine and tensioner replacement is simple enoughand will last
what...50k miles? As I read through guzziology the other night, it is
noted that the oil pump has to be relocated on the chain bike to
accommodate the gears. Much fiddling, placing and drilling.

Hi there fellow lopperz,

Well the 74 LAPD is all apart and I've looked at the timing chain (and
gears) for the 1st time ... uh huh... so much slack the chain was
wearing on the side of the case. So...

I'm considering gears since I need sprockets and chain. What's your
opinion? Price vs. longevity.

Just did the sprockets and chain on the LeMans and it was pretty
straight forward.

There have been gears (and chains) on my fav. flea e-market (Ebay) but
none today.

What's yer thoughts on this...?

Thanks
