Paul,
Even though I rarely leave the club to mingle with the great
unwashed,especially since Trevor has the Rolls in the shop right now, I
have been known to imbibe the working man's favourite libation. However,
I think you're on the right track with Czech beer, which has that
characteristic bitter taste (try Pilsner Urquell). As a matter of fact,
the Dutch beers like Heineken and Amstel are by type described as
Czechoslovakian pilsner beers. A good Mexican beer of the same type is
'Bohemia', which comes in a black bottle (check it out).
I have a Loopframe question this time. I have been told that getting a
deep sump or sump spacer results in more power because the pistons do
less work compressing air in the crankase because the deep sump results
in a greater crankcase volume. Based on this, I have bought a sump
spacer that I believe was used on one of the LeMans bikes. Now, I have
also heard that an advantage is that you can use more crankcase oil. It
seems to me that you can't have it both ways; either you can have a
greater volume of oil, or a greater volume of air, and if you use more
oil, you can't have the advantage of easier crankcase compression. So,
can someone tell me which is correct. When I install the sump spacer,
should I use the same quantity of oil, or should I use more? By the way,
I should also state that I had the Eldo block machined to use a T-3 pan
with an oil filter, so I won't have problems with oil pickup from the
pan when using the spacer. Any comments would be appreciated.
