You may also want to check the oil pan and make sure it is not warped. If
so you can use a double oil pan gasket or surface it on a belt sander and
check it on a large piece of glass or mirror,

Hey Ian,

Thanx for the advice. I bought a tube of permatex the other day and
will try it out this weekend. I looked under the bike again last eve
and it looks like the oil drain plug is weeping also. Can I use the
permatex on it also? Might as well try it out and stop all of the
leaks. I'm hoping this will cure the leaks, but I still have my eye on
the oil drain pan gasket just above and in front of the oil drain plug,
it's either weeping also or oil from the tranny drain plug is finding
it's way down to that area and settling there. I hope the oil isn't
coming from that little hole in the casing which may mean the main seal
is leaking, which it better not be since it was replaced 1.5 years ago
(less than 100 miles ago)! One day this bike will be finished........

Thanx also to Karl, Pat, and Vince also for their advice, will try the
permatex goop method 1st.

 Keith,

Great to hear that the Ambo is finally up and running. You and Bob have
had
your share of lumps but the rewards are well worth the wait.

As for your plug.....goop a bit of Permatex sealent on the threads and
screw
it in. That will hold it till the next time.

Good luck...Ian

Several months ago I had posted a message that I thought I had a leak
in

between the engine and tranny case, but it turned out to be the tranny
drain plug leaking gear oil, which works its way down the case and
ended

up at the oil pan gasket, from which it dripped to the floor. My
mechanic friend installed a new plug and gasket, and for months at his
shop while it sat there, there wasn't a hint of a leak. Well, after
riding it home, it has reared its ugly head again. The drain plug is
wet, and gear oil is also running down the case like it was before and
dripping to the ground. Has anybody experienced this problem and if so
how did you fix it?
