How small do you need to go?
First, yes, there are other chucks on the market which can be fit to your
drill press and they have fingers that go down to zero. Look at your
existing chuck to termine if it is a threaded fit or tapered shank fit. The
size should be printed onto the chuck. Give me whatever numbers you see.
The go to www.traverstool.com and get yourself an alternate chuck.

Alternatively, I have a cute but expensive little tool for this purpose. It
is a max 1/8" chuck mounted to a 3/8" stem. You just mount this in your
drill press. The cool part is that it has a hollow or telescoping center
shank and a knurled finger wheel. When using very small drill bits, the
plunger function of your press is too heavy and crude. This thumb wheel
allows you to use your finger/thumb to very gently lower a dainty drillbit
into the material. I think I also bought this at Travers.
