A while back I posted on how my points were frying on a regular basis on
the Eldo motor even though all components checked out fine and grounds
cleaned up, etc. New points, cleaned points, different coils, correct
resistance yada yada. And they only fry if I get on the bike loadwise.
Just one hard romp on it and the bike would puke by 4th gear. Give the
points a quick hit with the file and I'm back on my way.
I was thinking for a while that maybe there was excessive blow-by seeing
as I have some oil smoke blowing out the right exhaust and oil foul the
right plug once in a while. Maybe the blow-by was coming up along the
distributor shaft and filling the inside of the dist cap with blow-by
smoke. Not enough to leave oil droplets but maybe enough to cause the
points to burn easier. It also seemed when the points would fry out I
could scape a little residue from the contact area.

So I drilled a bunch of holes in the dist. cap last Friday to make it
breathable.
All other components remained the same. Rode it hard all weekend and the
bike never hiccupped once. Points worked flawlessly for the first time
in months.
I'll pulled the right cylinder off this week and find out what's wrong
oil-burningwise.
