Subject: transmission vent- 5-speed

here is another Q.-
anyone ever remove that vent plug bolt thing from the left side of the
trans.? i know it also serves as the shift-detent [there must be a spring
under it?] i don't see the usual traces of oil on my trans. case, and worry
that the little hole [vent] may be plugged.
