Fred:
What I've done on 2 Ambos so far is to weld another piece of metal
on the INSIDE of the bracket where the mounting holes are to beef it
up, helicoil the holes in the case and replace the mounting bolts with
studs, making sure that they're long enough to go through the double
thickness. The extension piece to the distributor bolt is a good thing
also, prevents the gen from rocking as a result of torque.

On my SECOND bracket, to prevent the cracking I did two things. First I
really watch that my generator belt is not too tight, and secondly, I welded
and drilled a extension piece onto my bracket, that attaches to the
distributor bolt. Gives a better mount.

All this talk of loose/buzzy generator brackets prompted me to pull mine
out and examine it. It shows some evidence of running with the bolts
loose and there is a nice crack from the forward hole to the edge. When
I bolted it to the block and put in the generator, the generator doesn't
quite touch the block where the locating pin is. Is theis where guys
have been adding the rubber?

I am bidding on another bracke on Ebay (Hi Mike!)
