My 71 Police Ambo was made DEC 1970. It appears it was built with
whatever was left on the shelf. The single speedo is V7 style, the
police dash appears to be somewhat of a prototype in that the V7 speedo
has the idiot lights within it so the lights on the dash are there but
are not wired. (see my pix at:
http://y42.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/klruff3/lst?.dir=/My+Documents&.done=http%3a//my.yahoo.com/p/d.html)

Most police models have the later speedo style (see www.cyclegarden.com,
photos, stock police) and use the dash lights (warning lights). My dash
also doesn't have a kill switch like near all police dashes, but has a
push/pull switch to operate a map light that cops had mounted to the
windshield (I found the wire wrapped up by the left fork). Talk about
unique, even Moe noticed this and said that I have an incorrect speedo -
but this V7 speedo and dash were on the bike since purchased new - I
have spoken with the original owner, me being the 2nd titled owner. So,
I believe you too can have some early and later model parts, depends on
what the Italian assemblers pulled off of their shelf during assembly
and what was left from the old parts bins.

Good Luck with the loop.

From everything I have read and heard, Moto Guzzi was, until pretty

That's what I was thinking.

 Cool bike, by the way.

Thanks.
