Well, I did it. I purchased new U Joint and carrier bearing from Moto
International. I found they had the best prices (by about $100) over the
other sources I called. Could use a little instruction on phone etiquette,
unfortunately.

I vote for replacing them both. The chances are that when the U-joint
explodes, it ain't gonna happen in your driveway. Moto Int'l has the
best price on the U-joint that I've found, the carrier bearing is
available from any bearing shop.
