The local population has a strong separatist movement. Highway signs are
printed in both modern Italian names (Corsica had a long Italilan history
although now French) and also in the local dialectic language. The main form
of political terrorism seems to be riding around at night and painting over
the non-Corsican parts of the signs. Okay since most town names are easily
translated. But occasionally, the Corsican name for a place is totally
different from the older Italian version. Funny to see the vast majority of
road signs vandalized in this way.
