Standard Buna N is usually too soft of a durometer to make a decent
gasket.
I got a hold of a firmer durometer sheet and can make decent replacement
gaskets if anyone needs them. Email me off list and I'll mail a pair
off. A small donation would be nice but not needed.
Most original gaskets fail because of lack of use. There is a small
milled out section on the inside part of what you turn that pushes
against the gasket which is over two small holes. When you turn it on,
the milled out section is over the two holes allowing flow, when off the
two holes are blocked from the flat surface of the unmilled surface. If
the petcock is left in one position, the gasket swells into the milled
out area after time. When you turn the petcock, the flat surface lifts
away because of the swelled area and leaks.

I remember someone in the past posting about rebuilding their petcocks
with a some gas resistant rubber bushings that they stamped out of a
sheet

 Thanks for the input,
