Ross, you are correct. I believe I have some sort of pilot version
police dash. All other police dash's I have seen have a toggle switch
on the right side to work the flashers, and the push-pull switch on the
right is a kill switch. My Ambo has no kill switch. The left push/pull
switch on mine is linked to a wire that is not in use. On cop models, I
believe this was for the map light mounted to the screen.

Mine is slightly different, might be a western variation but matches the
71
Ambo I had in the late 70's. The top four and the "spotlights" indicator
is
as Keith describes, but the turn signals are amber, and switches, two
push
pull and one toggle, fill the remaining holes, the toggle going in a
hole to
the lower right and used for the emergency flashers, if I remember
right, or
the kill switch if I remember wrong.

 Don,

I have a 71 police Ambo with V7 style speedo, so the top 4 lights on my
dash are not wired (idiot lights are built into the V7 style speedo). I
have a manual with a pic of the dash at home with all of the lights
labeled, if you don't get any responses today, I'll send you a note this
eve. Basically, the left blue light is the left blinker, the one just
to the right I believe is the spotlights "on" indicator. The blue light
on the far right is the right blinker indicator, the light next to it is
the flashers. The top 4 are High Beam "On", Gen Warning, Nuetral, and
Oil Pressure Warning. Not sure if they are in that exact order, but
that is the order on my speedo. Will verify when I get home. For
reference, a pic of my speedo/housing is at:

Due to a computer crash, I lost the message that listed what all the
idiot
lights on the LAPD dash are for. I would be very grateful if someone
could
post a description of what the lights are for. Unfortunatley, one of
the
lights came on yesterday.

Has anyone ever wired an noisemaker into the turnsignal circuit? On a
sunny
day it is imposible to see the light blink on the dash, making it easy
to
leave the turnsignal on.

Thanks for your help
