Good Question Rich,

The ones I've seen weren't painted at all. Just plain ol' gray steel. I
painted the saddle bag brackets, as well as the chrome saddlebag guard
brackets, the same as the frame. The whole bike is black so the brackets
blend in nicely. Looks Great. When they weren't painted they stuck out like
a sore thumb, Always bugged me. I'm assuming these are Wixom bags..

Subject: Eldo saddlebag brackets

Folks: I'm restoring the saddlebags and brackets for my Eldo. The bags
were a lovely metallic blue (looked like a rattle can job done by a 4th
grader) with lots cracks, discolorations, etc. I'm working on the
fiberglass repairs.

The brackets are dull and I can't tell if they were ever painted (I
think not). The question: what color were the brackets originally?
