Greg Field's book tells all about the "A series" Ambo and the Loop
development. He has great pics of all the Loops.

All I did was identify the serial number schemes to the models.

I believe the Ambo started in the 13xxx range. Sounds more like a
V700 with
that number and the A. Bet Ian can tell you.

Subject: engine number

Last weekend at a Guzzi breakfast I met a fellow with a white Ambo
who was interested in my early V750 sidecover decals. His bike had the
smaller tank with the early gas cap, and carbs with the remote bowl. He
wasn't sure of the year, seemed to think it was a '69. I suspect that it
may be earlier than that, and perhaps a V700. The engine number was
A12157. I remember some discussion a while back on the list about some
rare 'A' number engine, I think it was Ian who had one.
Can anyone comment on what this bike is?

Thanks,
John Prusnek
