Take the cables off first.

I dont see how to un attach the 2 cables to each carb. Seems like this would
be the best way to start.

Unscrew the one screw (countersunk straight slot screw) that holds the choke
cable and unhook the cable end from the choke piston.
Unscrew the two top cover screws (they have hex heads, but use a screw driver,
not a wrench) pull the slide up. and unhook the slide from the cable. You can
loosen the clamps that hold the carbs to the intake and rotate them to get the
top off easier.

NOTE: look at the way the cable hooks to the slide through the spring, so you
will know how it goes back together.

You may have to back off the adjusters on the top of the carb and the ones at
the throttle to
get enough clearance to unhook the cables.

Then take the carb bodies off the engine, but:

Sometimes it is hard to get the carb body to come off the intake. There is a
clamp and sometimes
there is a groove in the plastic made by the carb. The carb will rotate but it
will not want to come off.
If this is how yours are, take off the entire intake by removing three bolts
from the head.
