I have a 1981 Subaru 1800 GL with a Nippon Denso external regulator, but 1982
changed to the
internal regulator. They mount the same and you can mount the regulator where
the old regulator was.
I have had the rectifier burn out a couple of times in 306,000 miles. Just had
the first regulator burn out.
