can you get the RH side to tick over nice & slow on it's own if you screw in
the throttle stop? both sides should be capable of this independantly. then
connect both sides HT leads & tickover should be synched but a bit high.
turn both screws back an equal ammount & it should be right.

hesitation off idle is probably different ammounts of slack in the throttle
cables causing 1 slide to rise ahead of the other. equalising this is more
tricky: you can look to see cables have the same ammount of slack (easy but
not desperately accurate) or take off air cleaner & watch slides rise when
throttle is opened (very hard to see, even with a mirror). if you have large
hands it may be possible to feel movement.

i used the above methods for years 'til i bought a set of vacuum guages.
much, much quicker & easier & very accurate.

Subject: Eldo carb adjustment question

I tried to adjust my carbs using the method described in the workshop
manual, and can't get it quite right. When it instructs me to take the
plug
off the LH side cylinder and to adjust the RH carb, it is fine. When I
take
the plug off the RH cylinder, it does not run as easily and will stall
unless I get the RPMs up more. I have the initial settings on the mixture
screws as 1 1/2 turns out on the LH, and 1 3/4 on the RH carb. Is this a
good way to set the carbs or not? My question because although it starts
and runs good, there is a bit of hesitation when I hit the throttle from
idle.

Ideas anyone?
