I was having a similar problem. A friend asked what direction I had faced
the seam on the gasket, towards the motor or away. I had never paid
attention
to this & did not believe it would make a difference, but I was about
ready
to pull my hair out so I tried it. I had to look very close but there is a
seam where the copper is rolled around, I put the seam facing away from
the
 motor, problem solved.
