sounds ok, but (disclaimer) i've not seen them.

but it seems it's been running ok & all you've done is change the plugs, so
i don't see any probs there.

i can't remember if higher no's mean hotter or colder plugs* with NGK. if
you're running a colder plug you will get more deposits.

you can tell by comparing the business ends of the 2 plugs. more ceramic
nose contacting inner wall of main plug body means colder plug. BTW a hotter
plug will not make your motor run hotter, only the plug.

i'm sure you're fine.

Thats the condition here, general riding no traffic, can you tell how
the bike running based on my explanation of what the plugs look like?
Too rich? Too lean? Right on?

Thanx.

you are right about how to take a reading. i think you're talking about
a
"plug chop" done to acertain fuelling at full throttle by main jet.
useful
for racing bikes (cos not many street bikes see the main jet working on
it's
own).

if you just take the plugs out after general riding, not stuck in
traffic
you can get some idea of the general running of your motor though.

Unless there is some special technique for Guzzi engines that I'm not
aware
of, the way to take a spark plug reading is to get the vehicle up to
operating temperature, accelerate at full throttle for 10-15 seconds,
kill
the engine and pull the plugs after coasting to a stop. The idea is to
get
a
reading based on "under load" conditions.
Pulling the plugs after decelerating or idling generally won't give
the

 readings you want.

Good Morning All,

Wanted to get a reading/opinions on my new spark plugs. Installed the
NGK BP6ES' as prescribed by the manual and Mark Ethridge (saw his post
some time back). My mechanic had a set of B7ES' in there prior,
seemed

OK, but they were black/brown when I pulled them after only a few
hundred miles. 1st, how long does it take to get a reading on plugs?
I've got about 100 miles on these new sets. When I pulled them, I was
glad to see they are showing the exact same type of wear, but they
look

a bit strange to me, not really matching what the book readings say.
They are both clean mostly (probably because they are new), but half
of

the ceramic center is white/tan, the other half has is brown, thought
it

was "blistering" as the book says, but when I touched it with my nail,
it was almost like trying to scrape dried syrup off of a table top -
perhaps that is blistering? Bike seems to run fine, but I wonder if I
need to readjust the fuel mixture?

Thoughts? Thanx!
