Whilst in CA for vacation last week, I managed to convince my girlfriend to
make 2 stops in our drive from Yosemite to San Diego and back to visit the
two west coast loopframe strongholds. On the way down I had a nice visit
with Moe at cyclegarden and checked out his numerous cool projects. I wish
my office had a newly restored eldo sitting in it like his does.

And on the way back up the coast, I came upon the hanger called moto guzzi
classics. If you think Mark Ethridge is nice on the phone and email, meet
the man in person. He and his saturday afternoon crew (Josh the parts man
and some infamous guzzi characters like Ed Millich and Guzzi Mike) took time
from the their projects to show me and the little lady around the place and
to talk bikes. A-maz-ing. More loops in one room than exist in NYC and
enough spare parts (new and old) to build a ton more. Mark managed to find
me some old (and inexpensive) sheet metal for my ambo bobber project and
showed me how to bob my rear fender. Even the girlfriend, who often gives
the "I'm bored" face a few minutes into any bike shop visit, said she had a
really good time (upon finding out she was english, mark gave us a tour of
his mini cooper collection.)

So here is a public thanks to Mark for being such a great host. If you are
in the Mark's neck of the woods, I highly suggest you stop by.
