Keith,

Eric is(or was?) a rider for Team Obsolete and he has worked on a friend
of mine's V-7 Sport. Totally rebuilt the engine and tranny which my
friend Simone is very happy with. Don't know the cost buy I think that
Eric is fairly reasonable. I might suggest that you just remove the
engine and send him the lower end. Shipping that much of the engine would
probably not cost that much but then driving to Brooklyn from your place
is a solid day. Where he is located is not even remotely close to being
dangerous except for the possible whiplash you might get from staring at
all the young female(artist) who live around there.:) From the way it
sounds (experience) you could install the pistons/barrels and heads which
is fairly easy. Send the heads to Mike Rich and let him do a valve job
and you might want him to port it out but that is totally up to your
wallet. I am sure that Eric could give you a worse shape scenario for
cost and you could get the thing back together in a fairly short amount
of time. Winter is almost here so........

1. Have it fixed. Problem is, no mechanics in the area. One
choice is
a newcomer in Brooklyn NY, about 2+ hours away, but I don't have
confidence going to him nor like the area he is in. My gut says no,
but
he is my only real choice. Dave in NY did say he is OK though, so
that
is a plus. Other issue is any time I have a problem with this bike,
