I have always found WD40 to just evaporate away. I'd use marine fogging
oil (aerosol) in the cylinders (and the tank, if you want to drain it).

Any problems with spraying WD40 in the cylinders?
Seems you'd get a better oil film with an aerosol as
opposed to just dropping some oil in and spinning the
engine. Anybody do this?

I drain the tank and let it dry for a few hours with the cap off then
spray
WD40 inside, put the cap on.
Also, I remove the spark plugs, oil the cylinders down well with engine
oil, spin it over a few times and reinstall the plugs.
