The load limit isn't the problem the problem is the bearings internal
clearance. Force the bearing into a state of running with the outer race
out of round and the clearance at some point is nil or less. At that
point the balls no longer roll heat will build up and the bearing will
fail. Driving the bearing with a tool contacting the outer face will not
harm the bearing if it is done properly with a good fitting tool and
driven into the ROUND bore. The race assumes the shape of the bore,if
the bore is round the race is round. Out of round bores are a major
cause of early bearing failure with ball and roller bearings.
After replacing a few thousand bearings from .093" to 28 inch
diameter you see a lot of the causes of the failures and out of round is
one condition to avoid.

In Greg's behalf, what's the rpm and actual side load here? I doubt we
are near the bearing's limit. Most Guzzi bearings puke because of lack
of lube or spinning in the swingarm or more commonly in the
u-joint/bearing i.d.
I think you could smash the swingarm with a hammer to retain it and it
wouldn't be the first cause of failure.
