Subject: More suspension stripping questions

I used the ideas from my first post, and succeded in getting my forks mostly
apart. I need to know how to continue stripping the forks...I have the
springs out, the headlight/fork covers off, but how from here. I think I
have seen mention of the chrome covers threaded on? If so, how? will I be
able to get replacement seals, etc.?
Also, are there any upgrades that will make these perform better than stock?
Mine seem to bottom relatively easily, and I have used several weights of
oil.
