Hi everyone,

I came home from work this afternoon about 2 o'clock and proceeded to put the new license plates on "Popeye" the ex-Jesse Open 1972 Eldorado Police Bike I acquired last week. We had unseasonally warm temperatures hear in NW Indiana the last 2-3 days and despite gray and threatening skies I thought I would go out and put 15-20 miles on it and kind of get a feel for the bike. I got back about three hours later after covering many of the best country raods in this part of the state with a superwide grin on my face. I had never ridden a big Guzzi but always felt that the loopframe bikes just "looked right" so decided to take the plunge. I hadn't ridden a naked bike for awhile so it took a little while to get used to an 80 mph wind hitting you in the chest, as did the seating position with the police bars. Also the seat foam on the drivers portion is pretty well shot so it sets too low for me (I'm 6'4" and 275#) in relation to the floorboards. (I've already talked to Rich Maund)

I just wanted to let Jesse know that "Popeye" pulled like a freight train, felt rock solid at all speeds up to and including 80 mph and sounded fantastic with the LaFranconi's. I couldn't be happier. There's just something about riding a v-twin that sounds and feels like a motorcycle should. Just wanted to let everyone know how I spent my Saturday afternoon.
