Yeah really, sales pitch:

Yeah well, ONLY 500 imported here to the Good 'ol US. Took the Amal's off
her and been putting up with these here DeLorto's. They're allright I guess.
At least by taking off the Amals I was able to preserve "em just in case a
fine fellow like you came by. I can tell your a stickler for orginal and
authentic stuff. Tell you what, I don't do this for everyone BUT for and
Extra $300 I throw on the Amal's for ya. That way there ain't no bones about
the originality!

HA!

Can't be too rare then. I have one also... Or maybe through some
statistical anomalie, we all happen to be connected. Like seven steps
to Kevin Bacon.
I swapped out the amal's for del orto's as well.
So, anyone want to buy a "rare" bike? Heck, I'll through in the amal
carbs in the interest of keeping it original...

Cheers,
Jason

the
Amals out with DeLortos, of coarse. I had no idea they were "rare" like
that. Oh well. How do you know this? Just one of those things?

I have, there was one listed a while back, also "Rare". Same
basic
bike but no chrome fenders. That "Police Captain" must not have reached
"chrome" status yet. Smart remarks aside, Any differentiation between
police
bikes for "Captains" would have to have been done by the local shop or
the
departments maintenance force. I have never seen any indication of a
"special" police bike from Guzzi and this one seems no different than
any of
the other LAPD/SFPD/CHPD or other police bikes from Guzzi.
I believe there were about 500 '74 Amal wearing 4LS Eldos
imported
but no idea on the mix of civilian/police-California/GT or chrome
fenders/painted fenders. My brother and I have a "Rare" civilian '74
with
Amals and 4LS but no chrome fenders. As for the "Rare" quote from the
add, I
think if you take the total number of loop frame Guzzis imported and
figure
in attrition, all loop frame Guzzis are rare. They were rare back in the
'70s when I bought my first one.
