Subject: Gravel type bits in my oil pan

Is it the consensus that this stuff is probably pieces of my tensioner
(I do have a chain) as Fred mentioned. If so, I guess I'll dive in with
a new tensioner. Fred mentioned also maybe oil sludge.. does sludge take
on this brittle consistency... again I can break the stuff up with my
thumb nail. Anyway... I guess no matter what, I need to check the
tensioner... thanks to everyone for your suggestions..... Bill
