On my Eldo and Ambos, I have had the front cable brakelight switch
contacts go bad so I have been using the rear only on the Ambo. I had
one of those rear brake light switches that would pop a fuse now and
then until I put a rubber vacuum line cap over the plunger. The rubber
recently wore away and I popped another fuse. I went to put a new cap on
it and the plunger fell out.
I said "enough" so I got the drill out and drilled a 13mm hole in the
middle of the brake lever and mounted a good old fashioned metal
momentary switch in the pedal. It actuates as soon as you plop your foot
down on the pedal first time, every time. A 1 minute job if it ever
needs replacing. A photo.
