Lenny,

Early Ambos (1969 models) were really V700's with 750 cylinders. Much of the
body work was V700, which included; longer headlight bucket, 700 style tank,
700 battery covers, 700 tail light bracket. I believe early Ambos also
shifted on the right side.

Early Ambos were denoted with an "A" in front of the 5 digit serial number.
All early Ambos that I have ever come across have serial number A12xxx. Full
blown Ambos (I call them American Ambos) lost the "A" and started with
serial number 13xxx and went up to 22xxx.

Grab a copy of Greg Field's book "Moto Guzzi Big Twins" He does an excellent
job of outlining the history with great pics.

Regards..Ian

Also, both are early Ambos but I never really compared the two. How can
you tell which style they are (differences between the 2 styles)?
