Subject: cylinder wear

I hope some of you can offer me advice. I've been on the teardown side
of my first rebuild ('71 Ambo). Last night I was able to inspect the
cylinders.
One cylinder shows a wear mark at the top of the piston stroke that
extends down about 1/4". This mark is about 1" wide and the transition
between the wear area and the chrome is smooth.
The other cylinder has a wear mark beginning at the top of the piston
stroke that extends down about 1.5" This mark is about 3.5" wide
(almost halfway around the cylinder) and the transition between the wear
area and the chrome is not smooth. It feels like the chrome was chipped
off.
Based on my descriptions is it possible to say whether either or both
cylinders should be replaced?
