I opened up my forks over the weekend (Stephen Brenton = THE MAN!! His
tools made the job quite simple and sraightforward. Thanks to John
Prusnek also for his tip on using the holes in the fork bottoms to get
the spring-clips out).

Anyway, there was oh about a 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick coating of
funky/gloppy grease smeared all over the springs and innards. Now, I
can see a reason for putting a little grease or oil on them to prevent
corrosion and whatnot, but there isn't a need for that much grease, is
there?

I also checked the generator mount--it was tight, and so it seems that
the piece I had made that ties the two generator mounting bracket allens
bolts together may indeed be working.

Mid 60s here today. Good thing I have a second bike I can ride to take
advantage of the nice weather.
