Uh.... no to #7 but yes to disc brake front-end. The other end of the damper
which has the hex nut shape that goes towards the top of the forks. It's
item #3 on the same page your looking at.

Am I to understand that this is for a disc-brake front-end? If so, I think
Paul needs the aluminum piece that screws onto the lower end of the dampener
cartridge and then bolts to the fork slider at the other end. The fork
spring goes on over it. #7 on California 850/Eldorado disc brake plate in my
parts book. Right Paul? Cheers,

I got one of the top fork mounting things from Cycle Garden. He had to
look for a few days, but found a usable on. You may wany to check with Moe
