Hi Greg,
My brother has a 950cc Eldo that I have ridden although at the time
that I rode it he had sleeved cylinders. It now has Nikasils as one of the
sleeves failed the hold oil consumption in check (blue smoke). I suspect
that the power and feel will be the same. I didn't notice any great power
increase in the higher revs but it has noticeably better low end torque. It
pulls away from a dead stop with a passenger much better than my stock LAPD.
I thought that I detected a bit more vibration some speeds than stock but it
was not objectionable, and it may have needed carb synchronization since it
was no worse than stock with the carbs out of sync. He had the Nikasils
installed by a gentleman in Minneapolis, MN that used to either own a former
Guzzi dealership or worked there. My brother has not mentioned if he bored
the case or turned the jugs down (I recommended that he bore the case) or if
anything else was changed with the jugs but next time I talk to him I will
ask. The low end torque increase was enough of an improvement that when mine
needs new jugs it will get the larger Nikasils as most of my riding is rural
and urban and very little on the Interstate.

Has anyone on this list fitted the 950 Nikasil SP-style barrels and
pistons to their Eldo?

Besides boring the cases, what was involved.

Did you realize any NOTICEABLE extra power or torque from the
conversion?

Thanks!

GF
