Greg,
I visited Houston briefly two years ago, sent there for a conference. Seems like a very modern, clean city. I don't know where you live but for me it was quite a contrast to the older, worn out looking cities of the Northeast. I like the worn out look, don't get me wrong (I do own a loop) but Houston is new looking. Lots of Hispanic types, food is pretty good and the city is really spralling, not lots of tall buildings but everything is spread out. It's the kind of town you where you have to have a car, or a motorcycle, just to get around. Good luck, Bob
